Description
“Addie’s Island Store”.
For years the young of Marquette teetered on their tip-toes, balancing on each rock, working their way to get an ice-cream cone from Addie Urbiha. Some nights, in the early part of the 60s, Addie would invite my brother Ted and I inside with my parents to sit near the ice cream freezer; an honor above honors. I can still hear the hum of the lights and the buzzing of the bugs outside trying to get in through the screens. Though the rocks and Addie are gone, the building remains the same, still serving ice cream cones to the young and old of Marquette after a fun time at the Island.
